John Clare Stokes has been capturing the world through a lens since the early 1970s. A graduate of Florida Southern College with a BA in Art Education (1979), John has always approached photography and art as a lifelong passion rather than a profession—pursuing it for the pure enjoyment it brings.Based in Lake City, Florida, John works with Nikon digital gear paired with classic Nikon lenses from his F3 film days, but he’s not tied to one brand. He’s just as likely to be shooting with a Canon S110, a Yashica Mat-124, or even his iPhone. Known for always having at least three cameras on hand, he’s ready to capture whatever moments unfold in front of him.Most recently, John won First Place in the Photography category at the 19th Annual Wally Reichert Memorial Art Show, a testament to both his skill and his dedication to always being ready for the perfect shot.
